Wednesday, October 5 through Monday, October 24, 2022: The Season of Fall, Geocaching, and a Birthday Party in Southern California

One of the front porch slate rock accents was pulling away from the house. I was able to apply glue behind it. seal it with a concrete block and let it stand for several days.
It seemed to work. Yeah!
On Thursday, I had an appointment with Dr. Sudheer Surpure at Grand Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery in Flagstaff. My dentist, Dr. Stark, found a skin tag in my mouth at my August dental hygiene appointment. He wanted Dr. Surpure to look at it. At this appointment, Dr. Surpure removed the skin tag and sent it to a lab for analysis. He thought that it was fairly routine. I have a follow-up appointment in two weeks.
Friday evening was a beautiful sunset. Tom and I always enjoy our Arizona sunsets.

Fall is in the air. Fall is also in the colors. A number of maple trees and aspen trees have turned in the neighborhood.

Even our very own maple tree is participating in the fall celebration.
Tuesday afternoon, I walked in town and did some geocaching. The one I found was the "Star of Williams" cache. I walked up 2nd Street and headed up a path to the top of the hill.
The view of Williams from this cache location was very special.
Wednesday morning, our favorite housekeeper, Colleen Hatton, came to freshen our house. She is a wonderful find!
That afternoon, I had a hair appointment in Flagstaff. Kelsey had her monthly acupuncture treatment too. So, we drove in together. Dr. Sullivan does a great job with Kelsey's arthritic back!
Every day, Kelsey and Jamie get neighborhood walks.
Thursday afternoon, I decided to find a few more caches. I parked the truck at the Rodeo Barn and walked several miles up to the airport. The first cache I found was called "Concrete Sofa" cache.
The second one I found was right outside the entrance to HA Clark Memorial Field (aka the Williams Airport.) There were three other caches in the area, but the weeds and thistles were too overgrown to enjoy the hunt. I was tired of taking black barbed wings out of my clothes.

Friday, I noticed that the spa was leaking again. Darn!
While in Flagstaff for a facial appointment, I bought more of the Fix a Leak solution at Summit Spas. This time, I will apply the treatment at least two times. Perhaps that will do the trick!

Saturday morning, Tom and I went to Goldie's Route 66 Diner for breakfast. The restaurant is decorated for Halloween.
Sunday morning, I took out the spa filters and I poured the Fix a Leak product into the spa. I used two portions --- to maybe finally fix the leak. I ran the spa jets three times each day for two days. That weekend, my sister Carrie was in Atlanta visiting her son, daughter-in-law, and her daughter, Lauren. There was a charity walk to honor angel babies who died in their mother's womb. Carrie and her family also enjoyed the fall colors.
I took a leisurely walk in the neighborhood and enjoyed our fall colors.

Monday morning, I walked along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway tracks to downtown Williams. There was snow on Mt. Humphreys!
I met the Highland Meadows Ladies for lunch at Obregon City Tacos. Yummy!
Tuesday afternoon, Tom helped me empty the spa water.
The procedure is to then cure the empty spa for two more days. Done!

Wednesday morning, I drove to Kaibab Lake, parked the truck, and walked the three miles around the lake. Fall is definitely in the air.
Before heading home, I went geocaching near Bearizona. The first cache I found was behind the Bearizona sign.
I found two more --- each about .3 miles away.

The next day, I filled the spa with water. Fingers crossed that the leak will be fixed.
Friday morning, Tom took a beautiful photo of the sunrise.
Later in the day, I enjoyed another fall photo along the Highland Meadows patio homes.
Saturday morning, Tom and I got ready to drive the 6 1/2 hours to Pasadena. One of my girlfriends is throwing herself a 70th birthday party. Since I dropped the dogs off at the Grand Canyon Railway Kennel the day before, I was able to take a forty-five minute walk around the golf course.
Tom and I took turns driving to Southern California. We were staying at a the Rose & Crown Hotel on Colorado Boulevard.
That evening, we went to my brother Peter's home for adult beverages. The entire Shelton clan stopped by to say hello.
Later, Peter, Terry, Tom and I had dinner at the Foothill Restaurant in Pasadena. They have a very nice patio for dining pleasure.

Sunday morning, I made plans to have lunch with my girlfriend Barbara Coad at the Julienne Restaurant in San Marino. I purchased a Bryce Canyon sweatshirt hoodie for her in September and wanted to give it to her.
In order to get my 12,000 daily steps in, I walked the three miles to the restaurant and back. Tom read and lounged at the hotel.
When I got back to our room, I suggested to Tom that we have pre-dinner drinks at the beautiful Langham Huntington Hotel. It is only a few minute drive from there to Honoria's house. It has been nine years since I visited the Pasadena Langham.
We had cocktails in The Tap Room. I had a nice glass of chardonnay and Tom had an Old Fashioned.
We arrived at Honoria's home a little after 4:30 p.m. We were greeted by Honoria and her husband, Richard Petrie. We have not seen them in four years!
It was a small group celebrating Honoria's 70th birthday --- fourteen of us. It was a very nice setting in her back yard.

The dinner was catered by The Kitchen for Exploring Foods. They are local and always do a nice job. I made sure that Tom and I got a photo with the birthday girl.
Of course, there needs to be a birthday cake!
And then, most of us moved inside to enjoy the cake.
The next morning, Tom and I left Pasadena at about 8:30 a.m. We took turns driving the 420 miles to our home in Williams. At about 3:30 p.m., we picked up Kelsey and Jamie.
I took the dogs for a pre-dinner walk in the neighborhood. We saw several deer on a corner lot.
With all of the construction of new homes, deer sightings have dwindled this year.

Sunday, June 1 through Sunday, June 15, 2025: Pickleball, Car Show, Appointments, Flag Day

Sunday, I went to Bethany Fellowship Church. There was a guest speaker --- a Christian Pastor   --- who is also a Rabbi. Very interesting!...
