Their son, Patrick, is the listing agent. He lives in the Phoenix area. There is a lock box on the home front door for local realtors to enter and show the property.
I invited Tom to go with me and the dogs to Kaibab Lake. He agreed! I was able to show him the site we reserved for three days later this month.
Last week, one of the spa handles seemed to have a crack. It spewed water into the air.
I called Summit Spa in Flagstaff. Jeff was able to find me a suitable replacement. I picked it up Tuesday afternoon. I also had an appointment in Flagstaff at Planet Dodge & Chrysler. It was my time to use up the last "free oil change." Three oil changes came with the purchase of my truck last year.Troy, my gardening and landscaping provider, was ready to tackle the decorative rock project. He dropped by the home with a sample of the rock. Tom did not think it was the best option, so he gave Troy information about rocks I liked at Flagstaff Landscaping Products. Troy took his trailer to Flagstaff and purchase 5 yards --- 6.5 tons --- of rock. Troy and his 20 year old son Payce distributed the rocks on the driveway leading to the RV barn.
Tom and I asked Troy to distribute the last load of rocks to two other areas that needed an additional layer.
Wednesday was set aside to introduce a new housekeeper to our home. Colleen was referred to us by friends Darcy and Gary Nansen. She provides house cleaning services to their home/vacation rental here in Williams.
I haven't had a housekeeper for over 17 years! It is nice having someone take care of floors, dusting, bathrooms, etc. Wednesday was also a good day for pickleball.
On Thursday, I had an appointment to get my nails filled. Jennifer was my nail provider. Her husband Will was servicing another woman.
Tom and I are taking the dogs to Kaibab Lake next week for some dry camping in the trailer. Tom checked out the condition of his portable generator. It was leaking gasoline and not starting. Fortunately, there is a place in Williams that services generators --- Outlaws Diesel and RV Equipment Repair. So, we took the generator to Todd.
The day, we noticed that the refrigerator was leaking water. It only happened when Tom was using the water dispenser on the front of the freezer section.
Tom repaired the leaking hose. But, the wiring harnass seemed defective. I called a Flagstaff company that repaired the refrigerator four years ago. They will send a technician next Wednesday.
Saturday, June 6, is daughter Donna's 54th birthday. I called her and sang "Happy Birthday." Short ribs is a favorite of hers. Meghan is making it in a dutch oven. While in the back yard, I noticed a beautiful Peony blossom. I decided to cut it and bring it inside. I can't recall the last time I had a fresh flower from my own garden!
In the afternoon, I took the dogs into town. We walked along Route 66 for several miles.
Sunday morning, I decided to wash my truck. There were a lot of smashed bugs. I did a nice job, but not as thorough as Tom.
Since there was a lull in my calendar, I asked Tom to help me hook the truck to the trailer. We brought the trailer out of the RV barn so that we could leisurely get ready for our three night dry camping adventure at nearby Kaibab Lake.
Monday afternoon, Tom and I had back-to-back appointments at the Northern Arizona Dermatology Center in Flagstaff. It was time for our annual full body scan for skin cancer. Tom had a wart removed and Dr. Risner took a biopsy of something on my neck. Lucky us, we had to wear masks.

Later in the afternoon, Gabe, the plumbing and heating guy, came to replace the water regulator for the house. The water pressure was way too high.
Tuesday morning, we played pickleball. There were just five of us. That afternoon, Tom and I took the dogs and the trailer to the Kaibab Lake Campground, site #28. This was my first time ever dry camping in an RV --- no external water, no electricity, and no sewer.
We set up the trailer. The site is long and wide. We also have a view of the lake.
I then took the dogs for a walk. They might be a little confused, as I often take them to this place without camping!
The dogs slept well Tuesday night. I did get them up at midnight to take them for a brief walk. The first night of camping usually requires an extra step.
Tom and I had a pre-arranged appointment Wednesday. Mike, from Appliance Repair Today, was going to call us when he was nearing Williams. Mike called, and Tom and I put the dogs in the truck and drove the ten minutes home. Mike showed up promptly and looked at the wiring of our refrigerator.
Mike said that he could repair the wiring, but he did not have his welding tools. So, he will be back again next Wednesday.
We went back to Kaibab Lake for the rest of the day. I decided to walk around the lake, leaving the dogs to slumber.
It was a 2 1/2 mile hike with very nice views. I happened upon a heron, too.
That evening, before dinner, Tom and I played several rounds of rummikub.
Thursday was going to be a hot day, with little wind. Without electricity, we are not able to run the air conditioner for the dogs. Tom and I drove back to Williams --- all six miles --- to play pickleball that morning. We dropped the dogs off at our house. We were hoping to have the portable generator fixed by Todd. After pickleball, we had lunch at Anna's Cafe. We then went to Bearizona. Last week, they brought three grizzly bear cubs to the wildlife park.
Their mother had been shot by a hiker in Montana and they were found abandoned. Bearizona was going to be their new home and they were building a large outdoor facility to house them. The cubs are currently in a temporary area, but they are loving being outdoors again.
We also drove through Bearizona. There, we caught some brown bears enjoying the water.
Unfortunately, Todd was not able to properly repair the generator. He has been fairly unreliable. He first said that it was just a spark plug replacement. But, Tom could not get it to start. So, we collected the dogs at home and went back to our campsite. Tom settled in for some reading.
I took a walk to the north section of the lake. The dogs slept.
Friday morning was our departure day for leaving the campground. Without a working generator, the battery was very low.
Fortunately, by connecting up the truck to the trailer, we were able to bring in the two slides and head home. We had another service call scheduled. The security system --- the fire detector --- was not working properly. In February, when we were in the Phoenix area, the alarm was triggered. Section Six was breached --- the fire detector. But it seemed to be a false alarm. Josh, from Wired-Up, came to check the system.
The home market is crazy right now. Buyers are gobbling up homes here in Williams. My neighbors, Connie and Jay, already have a contract on their home. New home construction is also booming.
Friday was first day of the 5th Annual Historic Car Show in Williams. Tom and I went to town and walked through the display of 300 cars.
We stopped at Canyon Club and had a beer.
We stopped at the Wild West Junction for another adult beverage and watched some of the parade of the historic cars.
At the Junction, we listened to some great country music by Rick Remender.
When Rick is not performing, he is the music director at the Calvary Baptist Church and he is also our town's Constable.
Tom and I decided to have dinner at South Rims Wine & Beer Garage. Our friend, Kerry-Lynne Moede, sings Friday nights there. So, we had dinner and listened to her sing.
It was a fun "date night."
On Saturday morning, I played pickleball. There was only five of us playing, but it was a good group.
In the afternoon, I went to town and parked on one end of Route 66 and walked down the street to view more of the historic cars.
With all of the activity of this car show weekend, you would never know that we were still under the thumb of the Covid-19 threat!
Sunday, I had an appointment in Flagstaff with my hair stylist Shawna. Masks must be worn.
Originally, Tom and I were booked at Bright Angel Lodge for our three-year anniversary. Our anniversary date is June 15. But, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is still not completely open. The sit-down restaurants at the El Tovar Hotel and the Bright Angel Lodge are still closed. So, I cancelled my reservation. The fun news is I booked the Bucky O'Neill suite at the Bright Angel Lodge for next year!
We didn't put the trailer back in the RV barn when we came back from Kaibab Lake. On Friday, we will be leaving for a four week RV vacation in Idaho and Bend, Oregon.
Having the trailer outside, Tom and I leisurely started the process of getting ready for the trip. Under the bed, I noticed that a hinge had separated from the platform holding the mattress. "Always handy" Tom got out his drill and repaired the mounting.
Thursday I had a 90 minute massage appointment with Natanya.
I love taking good care of myself! 😀😀😀
This week, Tom's son Jon is also getting ready for a trip. He is probably going to be gone for several months. A lot of his time will be camping. Jon, who bought my old truck last year, has been rearranging it's inside and outside. The bed of the truck will be some storage and a make-shift "tent" made of plywood.
Jon plans to spend time dry-camping near Yellowstone. This is grizzly bear country. So, he formulated a design for his "tent" to be secure from a grizzly bear visitation.
That night, Tom, Jon, and I went to the Grand Canyon brewery for a "farewell and happy trails" dinner.
