A group of us had an early dinner at
the Grand Canyon Brewery.
Kim Kelley joined us for dinner as
well.
Later in the week, there was a doe
and her three fawns in the lot next door. It is unusual to see triplets.
Saturday, a couple came to the
courts to play some pickleball. I noticed that they were from Lake Las Vegas.
It turned out that Carol Cirbes knows my friend Nancy Campbell from Lake Las
Vegas. We took a photo together and then I texted it to Nancy. Fun!
There was some great pickleball play
with Roland, Jon, Sivert, Kim, and Kelly.
On Friday, I took Kelsey and Jamie to Canyon Pet Hospital. Kelsey had an appointment to have a Veterinarian doctor look at her rectum growth. It is not infected, but the veterinarian suggested that I apply a medicated pad and ointment twice a day.
Jamie had his physical therapy appointment with Sandy. All three of us wore sunglasses while Jamie was getting his infrared treatment.
Jamie enjoyed his water treadmill session. Kelsey looked on.
Saturday, we had a magnificent sunset. This photo was taken by one of my neighbors.
Sunday, I left Kelsey and Jamie with Tom. My girlfriend, Laura Dillon, was hosting a Celebration of Life for her mother who passed away on July 17. The service was in Goodyear, Arizona. On the way to Phoenix, I stopped in Ash Fork and secured my cache #300! 😊😊😊
The Celebration of Life was scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. I checked into my hotel around 1:30 p.m. and I arrived at the church by 2:15 p.m. It was a very nice service for Laura's mother, Marilynn (Lynn) Blomquist. Refreshments were served afterwards.
Afterwards, Laura and I got together for dinner at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. Monday was Labor Day. So, it was an easy drive back to Williams.
Tuesday, Jamie had his physical therapy evaluation with Kelly. He also had his rabies shot administered. I decided to sign Jamie up for six more sessions. I asked if his first PT session could be that afternoon. Fortunately, Sandy was available. Kelly had just come back from a training session in Tucson. She showed Sandy some new exercises.
That evening, there was a nice sunset glow.
Wednesday, Jerry from Appliance Service Today came to look at our dryer. It is no longer heating. Jerry took a look and determined that there is a part that needs to be ordered.
Thursday, Kelsey had a follow-up appointment with the Veterinarian at Canyon Pet Hospital. I had a massage appointment with Mike in the afternoon. It was a warm day, so I decided to board Kelsey at Wags & Whiskers for several hours. Mike's wife, Cynthia, was in the suite, so I took a photo of the two of them.
I then picked Kelsey up at the pet resort. It was worth the $25 charge!
On Saturday, Francesco posted a photo of his visit to Amsterdam. He and his childhood friend, Silvia, were in Amsterdam together. What fun to see both of them!
One of my neighbors took a beautiful photo of Cataract Lake near sunrise.
Tuesday, Tiffany Johnson came to the house to care for Kelsey and Jamie for five nights. Tiffany had been referred to me by Elsa Marie, the dog groomer. Tom and I then headed out for a three night visit to the North Rim. On the way to the North Rim, Tom and I stopped for a photo of the Vermilion Cliffs.
A year ago, I booked a western cabin with a partial view. Our initially blocked cabin was not ready at 4:00 p.m. check-in. I decided to walk to the cabin, and I was disappointed in its location. So, I went back to the front desk agent and requested another cabin --- #332. Voila! A lovely porch for adult beverages.
And, an outstanding view from the room and porch.
That evening, we had dinner reservations in the dining room. Our 6:30 p.m. reservations aligned with a lovely sunset.
The next morning, the date was September 1 --- the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. The lodge flag was at half mast.
Tom and I had breakfast burritos in our cabin. We then walked the Transept trail to the General Store.
Tom and I met each other 18 years ago at the General Store. I was the manager and he worked the showers for several weeks. Tom then transferred to Maintenance where he managed the recycling program.
It was a beautiful day at the North Rim.
That evening, we had dinner reservations once again in the Grand Canyon Lodge dining room.
There was a nice sunset view from our cabin.
The next morning, I awoke to a magnificent sunrise --- also from the porch of our cabin.
On Thursday, Tom and I had breakfast in the dining room. We then drove out to Cape Royal Point.
Tom and I then walked to the top of Angels Window. But, the best photos are with Angels Window the background.
We continued our drive to Point Imperial and Mt. Hayden.
Later in the afternoon, there was a ranger program at the campground amphitheater. It was nice taking in one of the North Rim programs.
On the way back to the truck, I found a little pine cone person.
The mornings were starting to cool down. So, Tom and I enjoyed the fireplace and the propane heater.
Friday, we checked out of the Grand Canyon Lodge. On our way off of the plateau, we stopped at Jacob Lake for some cookies. When we reached Cliff Dweller Lodge, we decided to see if Scary Larry was on the porch. And he was! We haven't seen Larry since May, 2018.
Larry was in Maintenance with Tom at the North Rim in 2006. The last two nights of our getaway was spent in Flagstaff at the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn & Suites. Our first night was dinner at Salsa Brava Mexican Restaurant. The service was excellent and the food and drinks were great!
Pet sitter Tiffany texted me a photo of her with Kelsey and Jamie. She is doing a great job caring for them.
Saturday, we went to a matinee of the movie Reagan. It was a great movie with Dennis Quaid. Sunday, we checked out of the hotel and drove home to Williams. Kelsey and Jamie were happy to see us.
