Thursday, June 15, through Friday, June 30: My New Direction in Life

A good friend of mine suggested that I "start a new blog, start a new life and keep moving forward." Thank you, my dear friend, Jeff!!!

So, here my new blog starts --- a photo of Tom holding the poster I made: "Welcome to our life, Tom!"
On Saturday, Tom and I met Stephanie and Joe Hap for an early lunch at Wild West Junction here in Williams. Stephanie and Joe live in Prescott. I have known Joe for 44 years. He shared a home with my first husband, Bill Madden, while they were both stationed in Germany. Joe had lymphoma cancer in 2015, and while cancer free now --- gets check-ups in Flagstaff every 8 weeks. They always drive past Williams, so it is a nice way to keep in touch.
Only a dozen or so of friends and family knew that I had signed up with the eHarmony dating site in March. Williams is not a metropolis of internet dating, so the interested suitors were all at least three hours away --- the Phoenix and Las Vegas areas. While I had not yet personally met any of these six or seven fellows, it was time to let them know that I was no longer available. It was also time to let others know --- my two brothers, my three sisters, and the friends who knew that I was a member of eHarmony. So, off went the personal emails!

Monday morning, I had my six-month dental exam with Dr. Stark. Tom drove us to Flagstaff. He ran errands while I had my teeth cleaned.
Later in the week I would return to Dr. Stark. I had chipped the tops of two lower front teeth several months ago and it was determined that these could be capped with the mixture used to make fillings.

Tom and I headed straight home after my appointment because Ellen and Mark Burson --- with their three Australian Shepherds --- were coming to spend the night. They got an early start in Malibu and were already in Williams! Becky had made a Chinese Chicken Salad for lunch. After lunch, it was time to visit the drive thru Wildlife Animal Park --- Bearizona. Cloud cover had cooled down the afternoon temperature. The animals were out and about, so it was a great visit!
The height of summer is the Summer Solstice. The cloud formations issuing in the longest day of the year were spectacular!
On Saturday, Tom and I decided to take a trip up to White Horse Lake. It is only about a 20 mile drive from Williams. The weather was perfect, but a little too hot for the dogs. So, I walked the dogs earlier and we left them at home. It was a pleasant walk around the lake.
Later that evening, we went up to the Best Western Plus for adult beverages and music by Omar. This was the first time we heard Omar as an "official" couple. He plays fun rock and roll and many of the oldies, but goodies.

I had my usual hair appointment with Shawna at the Tirzah Salon in Flagstaff. I rarely know what Shawna will look like every time I see her. She is very dynamic!
Several weeks ago, I arranged, through my gardener, to have several aspen trees planted in the back yard. Richard always loved aspens and he one time said that it would be great to have some on our property. On Tuesday, June 27, it would have been Richard's 79th birthday. Gardener Troy planted the trees that I had selected at Viola's Garden Center. What a wonderful memory of Richard to live always!
My niece, Molly Shelton, was being married to boyfriend Matt Kumar on Saturday, July 1st in Los Angeles. Tom and I had earlier agreed that I would go to the family wedding alone. But, Molly's mother, Terry, insisted that Tom be part of the celebration. After more discussion, I changed the reservation number to two attendees.

Preparations for the wedding weekend began. The dogs were going to be boarded at the usual Cinder Hills Kennel in Flagstaff. For Thursday night, I cashed in some points with Choice Hotels to stay at the Barstow Rodeway Inn.
That evening, we had a delightful Italian dinner at DiNapoli's Firehouse Restaunt. The owner was a fireman and the theme was thus. Can you find the Dalmatian in the mural?
Friday. It was time for Tom to meet some friends and family. We met Barbara Coad for lunch at El Cholo Restaurant on Western. Then, that evening was the Rehearsal Dinner at Cafe Santorini in Pasadena. He met sisters, brothers, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, etc. Throughout the event, Tom seemed very comfortable and relaxed. Nice!
