Tom had an appointment with Daniel Knight at the North Country Health Clinic. He needed to refill some prescriptions. I had a pedicure at 66 Nails. Jennifer, one of the proprietors, provided a consultation on my finger nails. I have been biting them for a number of years. I decided that it was time to stop that. And, Voila! Jennifer put tips and gel on my nails.
I received a phone call from Camping World. Finally, after six weeks, my trailer was ready to come home. The refrigerator had been repaired, as well as the awning. We checked out the awning before heading home.
It was then that we found out that that Camping World location was closing the end of the week. Decisions were made at corporate that it was not profitable for them to keep open.
Last week, I contacted American Home Shield. My water heater unit was not functioning properly. They initially assigned a plumber from Cottonwood --- over one hour away. He was worthless. So, they assigned a local plumber, Gabe. Gabe and his helper assessed the problem, ordered the part, and installed it on Wednesday.
In February, I bought tickets to see Elton John in Las Vegas. It is a final tour, as Elton John has decided to retire and spend more time with his family. So, this weekend is our time to see Farewell Yellow Brick Road. We dropped the dogs off at the Grand Canyon Railway Kennel.
We took Tom's truck and drove to Las Vegas. It is less than a three hour trip. On the way, we stopped at Hoover Dam.
We didn't go on a tour, but viewed the towers and generator structures. At this time of year, it is pretty hot in this neck of the woods!
We checked into our hotel --- a Ramada --- and drove over to the old part of Las Vegas --- Fremont Street. There, we had dinner at The Chart House. When I was growing up, The Chart House was a special steak and fish restaurant. There was one in Santa Barbara, Malibu, and Mammoth Lakes.
The next day, we went to the Fashion Show Mall. I needed a dress for my trip to Austin next weekend. Rick and Joell are having the Grand Opening of their wedding venue, Mae's Ridge, on Friday, September 13th. I decided that I needed to be there, to acknowledge their two-year "labor of love" project. So, I booked airfare, hotel, and a rental car. I found a fun dress at Macy's.
The Elton John concert was that night at the T-Mobile Arena. We walked from our hotel to the MGM Grand and across to New York New York. There, we had a drink at a Broadway Bar with a piano man.
Then, we went to dinner at Chin Chin. It was an Asian restaurant that originated in Los Angeles. The final walk was to the arena.
The seats we had were excellent.
And, Elton John was outstanding. He played his hits for three hours. Not bad for a 72 year old!
The next morning, we had breakfast at our hotel and headed back to Williams. I decided to pick the dogs up that afternoon. On Sunday, I had an another appointment with Libby at Canyon Pet Hospital for acupuncture.
I think the therapy is helping sweet Libby.
Once a year, I have Brian at Steam Master clean the master bedroom suite carpet. He always does a nice job.
I am scheduled for a routine colonoscopy on Wednesday. The last time I had one was ten years ago. I was beginning the preparation process for several days prior.
I had my annual audiology exam in Flagstaff on Tuesday. Kerry Beasley does a thorough exam.
That night, my cocktail was a 4 liter jug of colonoscopy preparation and Tom's cocktail was bourbon. Now is that fair???
My appointment for the procedure was at 8:30 a.m. in Flagstaff. Tom drove me to the doctors office and I was dressed for the exam.
Of course, I have no memory of the procedure. Tom was in the room when I woke up. I was promptly released around 11:30 a.m., and we went to Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers for lunch.
That evening, Tom made a beer can chicken for dinner.
Tom has taken on the challenge of helping me and his son Jon get rid of unneeded items. He has been listing items on Facebook Marketplace and Craig's List. A fellow from Winslow purchased a wood stove that Jon wanted to sell.
Wednesday afternoon, our neighbor's dog attacked my Kelsey while we were walking toward my home. Jay's dog Bear was not on a leash. It did not appear to be deep, so I washed it off with peroxide. The next day, I could tell that the bite needed attention. I had to leave and drive to Phoenix, but Tom took Kelsey to the Williams Vet. He shaved around the bite, cleaned it, and gave us a week's worth of antibiotics.
Tom agreed to take care of Kelsey while I was away in Texas. So, I dropped Libby and Jamie off at the Grand Canyon Railway Kennel. It was less than a three hour drive to Phoenix. I stayed at a Best Western motel near the airport. I realized that I stayed at this motel before --- only now it was a Best Western and not a Choice Hotel. The surprise was that the room had a Jacuzzi tub!
So, I had to enjoy a bath before bed.😁😀😃
The next morning, I had a non-stop flight to Austin. There, I rented a car and drove to my hotel. That night, my son Rick and his wife Joell were launching the Grand Opening of their Mae's Ridge wedding venue in the Texas hill country. Tom and I visited it last October. But, now it was completed.
About 175 guests and vendors were in attendance.
The elegant barn, the covered Sunset patio, and the Oak Grove were there for all to see and enjoy. Rick and Joell already have 20 weddings booked over the next year!
It was a very special evening. It has been a two year "labor of love" for Rick and Joell. My daughter Donna and her husband David also attended the event.
It was a beautiful evening. This was the first time since Richard's memorial service three years ago that we were all together.
The next morning, we all met for brunch at a local restaurant. Joell's parents, Una and Ron Von Behren, were also in Austin that weekend.
After brunch, we all went back to Rick and Joell's home in Steiner Ranch. Texas is hot this time of year. For dinner, we decided to go to downtown Austin. We met on the roof top of Donna and David's hotel --- The LINE --- for cocktails.
There, we had a glimpse of a nice sunset.
It was also fun seeing all of the people lined up to see the 8:00 pm flight of 1.5 million bats who live under the downtown bridge.
We had dinner at an Italian Restaurant, Taverna. Joell's dad is having a birthday next weekend, so we celebrated it early with a yummy flaming dessert.
At the end of the evening, Rick dropped me off at my hotel. The next day, I was flying back to Arizona.
