Sunday, May 22 through Monday, June 13, 2022: Life in Northern Arizona, Family Birthdays, Death of An Unborn Baby,

The Highland Meadows Ladies went to Dara Thai Cafe for our weekly gathering.
I ordered my favorite Shrimp Pad Thai. Yummy, yummy, yummy! Monday May 23 is the 14th birthday of Bianka Vidor. I met Bianka's mother in Budapest fifteen years ago. At the time, she was pregnant with Bianka. It is fun keeping in touch with Oxy. Oxy is originally from Ukraine, but they live in Switzerland now.
Tuesday, May 24, is my youngest grandson's 18th birthday. I reached out to Beck and wished him "Happy Birthday." That very day, I received an announcement of his high school graduation.
Wednesday afternoon, Shawn of Atomic Pest Control came to service our house.
He saw that the front porch bats had returned and convinced me to schedule an appointment for him to come back and put up fresh disks. He seemed confident that he could improve the bat situation. Shawn also found a wasp nest on the side of the house and eliminated it.

Thursday, I had an appointment with Amy Aranda at Junto Skin & Laser. I received a facial and a follow-up session for my eyebrows.
That same day, Tom replaced a burned out light in the garage. Thank-you, Tom!!!
Friday morning, I had a 9:00 a.m. appointment in Prescott with Dr. El-Harakeh. He is the pulmonary doctor who ordered by sleep study. Yes, I have sleep apnea.
An hour later, I was in the Alliance Homecare office of Jody --- to be fitted with a CPAP mask and machine.
Jody recommended that I initially use a nose pillow mask --- second row down, black head.
When I got home with my CPAP gear, I set it all up on my nightstand.
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, Tom and I had lunch at Gateway Sandwich Company.
I had my favorite Ooh Aah egg sandwich and Tom had the Pima pastrami sandwich. Our friend Kerry-Lynn Moede was performing from 11-2:00 p.m.
Kerry-Lynn has a beautiful voice! Later in the afternoon, I took Kelsey and Jamie to town. We walked Route 66.
Several days ago, I noticed that I lost my front license plate "Team Dalmatian." The license plate holder was missing as well. So, I know that someone actually took, or stole, the plate. Weird!
I contacted CafePress --- who made my plate in February 2017 --- and I ordered another one.

On Monday, Tom and I washed my truck. Beautiful!
On Tuesday, I had two appointments in Flagstaff. I had my annual mammogram appointment at NorthStar Medical Offices. Since Covid-19 protocol, most of my medical appointments have been on time. This was no exception!
My second appointment was a 90 minute massage with Emily Johnson. She is awesome for sure!

On Wednesday June 1, I had a nail appointment with a new person --- Ali Rico. Ali has been doing Tom's hair for almost a year. She has a salon room attached to her home. It is very convenient and Ali is a skilled beautician.
Thursday morning was beautiful.
At 10:00 a.m., six of us played pickleball on the Manley Racquet Courts.

Friday afternoon, I had Tom drop me off in the Kaibab National Forest by Holden Lake. I walked home. It was too hot for me to take the dogs.
Later in the day, I saw a fun picture posted on Facebook by a neighbor Maria Rendleman.
Saturday morning, there was no pickleball. So, I walked around nearby Cataract Lake.
In the afternoon, I suggested to Tom that we go to Bearizona for a drive-through and walk-through --- ending in Happy Hour drinks at Canyonlands Restaurant. There were active bears in the drive-through.

Then, we parked and went to see the three grizzly bears. They were enjoying the waterfall and pond.

We then went to see the elks. Ace's antlers are impressive!
Of course, seeing the jaguars is always a treat. Libre was in his element.
Tom and I then settled in for Happy Hour.
Monday, June 6 was Donna's 56th birthday. I called her and found out that she and David were in Hawaii for a week. They had a wonderful beachfront condo on Maui --- north of Kaanapali.
This is the last photo I had of Donna and David --- taken before they moved to Santa Fe.
Tuesday, June 7 was granddaughter Emily's birthday. She and her sister Meghan live in an apartment in Los Angeles. For Emily's birthday, they had a birthday brunch with friends.
My Team Dalmatian replacement license plate arrived. With Tom's help, it was mounted on my truck.
Kelsey and Jamie had appointments at the Williams Veterinary Wellness Clinic.
Wednesday brought bad news. My sister Wendy called. My niece Lauren lost her unborn baby, precious little Oakley Mae. Lauren didn't feel any movement and there was no heartbeat. She drove to the hospital. They confirmed that the baby was dead in her womb. She needed to deliver the baby through induced labor. Thirty-six hours later, Oakley Mae arrived. She was conceived 31 weeks ago.
Lauren's placenta was full of blood. It seems Oakley had a blood clot in her head and in one of her legs. The hospital had Lauren and Cody pick out a baby dress and a cap for some pictures. So very sad indeed!
My brother Peter celebrated his 69th birthday in Hawaii. Terry's college roommate rented a home on a beach for a week --- the north side of Oahu. Of course, Peter and Terry had to take advantage of this opportunity!
Our town of Williams held the 7th Annual Historic Route 66 Car Show. There were almost 400 entries. It is always fun to walk Route 66 and see all of the cars.

Saturday morning, I took a walk around Kaibab Lake. It is about a three mile loop.
For Williams, it was a hot afternoon --- mid 80s. So, it was nice to enjoy the breeze off the lake. There was a woman in a kayak, too.
Over the weekend, APS (our electricity provider) posted a sign that there will be a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.
Sunday morning, I drove to the entrance of Buckskinner Park and walked to the reservoir.
It is about a one mile loop around the lake. I enjoyed watching more kayakers.
I decided to extend my walk by going over to the Santa Fe Dam.
In the afternoon, we found out that there was another fire near Flagstaff. It was arson lit by a man from Louisiana. The Pipeline fire was roaring up Mt. Humphreys.
The arsonist was caught and put in jail. That afternoon, Tom called me outside to see some deer nibbling in the lot next to our house.
There are three homes being built in our neighborhood, so I was glad to see the deer. Tom and I thought that they might venture to other places --- due to the construction.

With heavy winds, Flagstaff's Pipeline Fire continued to burn more acreage. Many homes had to be evacuated.

Monday, June 17 to Sunday, June 30, 2024: Alaska Bound, Geocaching, Appointments in Flagstaff,

Donna and David and their dog Doug are on their way to Alaska. They started the trek on the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, British Columbia...
