Friday, we had another freak snow
storm. Can you say April 18??? It snowed most of the day and into the evening. Tom and I calculated
that we received about three inches of snow. But, it was too warm for a lot of
the snow to stick to the ground.
Earlier in the
week, a Flagstaff medical supplies company, Rotech, delivered a wrist and a finger monitor for
an oximetry test. This test is to track my blood oxygen level while I sleep
with my CPAP machine. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to activate. Rotech is
going to bring a replacement monitor next Wednesday.
Francesco and Thomas are in Mexico seeing the ancient Mayan ruins. Lucky them!
The morning after the April 18 snow storm was cold. I captured some photos.
Peter and Terry took a bike ride at the beach the Saturday before Easter.
My sister Wendy took a photo of the Cascade Range mountains on a walk she took in her Bend, Oregon, neighborhood.
Easter Sunday, I went to church at Bethany Fellowship. After the second church service, there was a nice Easter potluck. I brought Tom as my guest. I made meatballs with chili sauce and grape jelly. There was quite a spread of food!
My sister Carrie shared a photo of the Bend family Easter dinner gathering. It was just four --- sister Wendy, niece Kerry, sister Carrie and her husband Brent.
Monday morning, I walked to town along Cataract Lake Road. I took a photo of Cataract Lake in the distance.
There was also a nice shot of Mt. Humphreys.
When I got to town, I called Tom to pick me up at the Safeway market. We then had lunch at Obregon City Tacos.
Wednesday morning, Brenden from Atomic Pest Control came to do his service.
In the afternoon, I went for a walk in the national forest adjacent to our Highland Meadows community.
Thursday, I
picked up my new prescription glasses in Flagstaff. The frames are not new, but
the lenses have the new "after cataract surgery" prescription.
On Friday, I
met good friend Chris Peterson for lunch at Nanys Tacos in Williams. It has
been several years since we have seen each other.
Chris has a boyfriend
named Sam. Sam is a healthy 80 year old. He is from Alaska. So, Chris spends
her summers in Wasilla, Alaska.
Monday, April
28, was Salli and Carl Middleton's 52nd
Wedding Anniversary. Salli sent me a photo of the two of them golfing in La
Quinta, California.
Over the past
weekend, I watched an infomercial about a weight loss plan called AquaSculpt.
I
decided to try it. I am the heaviest I have ever been! It would be fantastic to
drop 20 pounds! We'll see...
The weight
loss program offers a Committed Coaches element for an additional charge. I
decided to add that help to my quest. I have never been in a position of having
to lose 20 pounds!!!
Thursday,
May 1, I had a hair appointment with Shawna Ritter at Wildflower Salon in
Flagstaff. She is the best!!!
On Friday,
Tom had an early afternoon appointment in Flagstaff at Barnet Delaney and Perkins Eye
Center. He had several tests done for his glaucoma.
Tom also had a follow-up
appointment with Dr. David Felsted. Good news! The pressure in his eyes has come
down! Several weeks ago, Dr. Felsted had put Tom on a new eye drop. Perhaps it
is working. 😊
On Saturday
morning, I took Kelsey to Cataract Lake.
Later, I went on a longer walk by
myself --- around some of the golf course. On the route, I met up with Cherie
Reece and her daughter, Michelle. Cherie lost her husband George just ten days
ago.
Later in the
afternoon was the 151st Kentucky Derby. Tom and I watched the race in our
living room. The course was very muddy and a horse named Sovereignty won.
Sunday, Tom
made Mississippi Mud Pot Roast. It is a favorite of ours! The pork roast will cook in the Crock pot
for seven hours.
Later in the
afternoon, I spotted about 15 deer crossing through the lot next door. Finally, our first sighting!
We also had
some rain and hail for thirty minutes or so.
Happy Cinco
de Mayo! My nephew Blake and his wife Nicole our in Alaska. They certainly know
how to vacation well.
May 5 is
Tom's mother's birthday. May Mary O'Dell enjoy a Heavenly celebration.
Tom and I
had dental appointments in Flagstaff. Megan, one of the dental technicians, does a good
job cleaning Tom's teeth.
That
evening, Teresa Moshir had dance lessons
at the Sultana Theater for salsa and rumba dancing. It was a very rainy
evening. Tom and I were the only attendees. So, we had a private lesson with
Teresa. Lucky us!
Tuesday
evening, one of my Facebook friends posted a beautiful sunset. We certainly live in a lovely area of the country.
Wednesday,
Tom had his first appointment at the Guidance Center in Flagstaff. He met with
Melanie Platt. Melanie is a nurse trained in psychiatry and psychiatric
medicine. Tom has been having difficulty sleeping more than four hour a night.
Melanie prescribed some medications to hopefully remedy that.
I recently
received a recall notice for a computer glitch on my Dodge Ram truck. I made an
appointment to have it fixed on Thursday at Planet Dodge in Flagstaff. While I
waited, I walked to the mall. I also picked up lunch at the nearby Panda
Express.
The service
technician at Planet Dodge performed a diagnostic on my truck. Attention needs
to be taken on two items --- my brake fluid and my engine coolant. Rather than
have the dealership perform the maintenance, I took my truck to JJs Auto
Service in Williams. Bill, the proprietor, fixed the two items on Friday.
That same
day, Pine Country Window Cleaning came to professionally clean the outside
windows of my home. They also cleaned the inside and outside windows in the
garage and in the RV barn. Their fee was very reasonable.
On Saturday,
I had a facial with Kacia Maddox at Lush Salon. I am so very lucky to have
found her talent here in Williams! That evening, Tom and I went to Wild West
Junction. They had a four piece band --- Truly
Reckless --- from Prescott.
Tom and I
had a fun time dancing. I hope that
the band returns another time before the end of summer.
