Thursday, March 27 through Thursday, April 17, 2025: Delta Gamma Sorority 50th Anniversary, Freak Snow Storm, and Good-Bye Jamie,

Coming up is a UCSB Delta Gamma Reunion in Indian Wells. It is a 50 year reunion with five classes --- 1972 through 1976. In preparation for this event, many of my DG sisters have been posting photos of Delta Gamma life on Facebook. On Thursday, I went through some of my sorority photos and submitted six photos. This is just one of them.

On Sunday, Tom and I dropped Kelsey and Jamie off at Wags & Whiskers Pet Resort in Flagstaff. They will be there for four nights.

Monday morning, I packed up my truck and drove a little over five hours to the Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California. Our official festivities began that evening at TQLAS Mexican Restaurant in La Quinta. I ordered a delicious Margarita 😊😊😊

In attendance at this reunion were 38 of my sorority sisters. About 3/4ths of the group had dinner Monday night.

One of my sorority sisters, Molly Newlon, has been an active Trump/MAGA person like me. We are probably the only conservatives in the group. So, we had two special photos taken with hand signals of "T" for Trump and "M" for MAGA.

The next morning, there was a breakfast buffet at an upstairs deck above the resort gym. Bonnie Burdett Walker had long sleeve tee shirts made for the reunion. The cost was $23. Pledge sister Salli Ruthroff Middleton and I had a photo taken with our shirts.

After breakfast, all of the DG 50th Reunion attendees gathered for a photo.
After the group photo, some of the ladies went to a Water Yoga class at the Hideaway Pool.
Another group of us went on a Modernism Homes Walking Tour. There were nine homes on the tour depicting homes built in and around the 1950s.

Sorority sister Cathy Reger Dolbec lives at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage. She organized a Pickleball Round Robin at her resort. Twelve of us enjoyed several hours of pickleball. It was a very windy day, but the play was fun.
That evening, we had a lovely buffet dinner at our Tommy Bahama resort. Of course, a group photo was involved.
That evening was the completion the official reunion schedule. When I got back to my room, I saw that Wags & Whiskers posted a photo of Kelsey and Jamie on their website.
The weather forecast for Williams was snow arriving at noon on Wednesday. It was a freak snow storm --- as it is already April! I decided to play it safe and checkout of the resort before 7:30 a.m. As I was driving up Washington Boulevard, there was a very interesting cloud formation.
Interstate 40 was clear until I started heading up the hill from Ash Fork. There was some light snow coming down, but it was not sticking to the road.
I returned home at about 12:45 p.m. It snowed some that afternoon.
It snowed all night. In the morning, I estimated that we received about 3 inches of snow.

Fortunately, Interstate 40 between Williams and Flagstaff was clear. Tom and I took my truck to pick up Kelsey and Jamie. The receptionist at Wags & Whiskers Pet Resort reported that Jamie was having great difficulty walking. She said that they often had to pick him up to take him outdoors to go to the bathroom. The receptionist also said that Jamie seemed to have no control over his bladder.

Tom and I took Kelsey and Jamie home. I spent the next few hours watching Jamie. His condition had worsened greatly. Jamie's two back legs kept collapsing and he wasn't able to get back up. I prayed to God for guidance.

God gave me an answer. I called Canyon Pet Hospital and made an appointment at 11:30 a.m. the next morning for Jamie. We were going to the Comfort Room. Jamie's time had come.

That evening, Jamie laid down on Kelsey's bed. Perhaps he knew that this dynamic duo relationship was coming to an end.

Throughout the night, I checked on Jamie. One time, he was whining and sitting up on his rear.  There was feces all around him. Perhaps Jamie tried to go outside and could not get up. I cleaned his rear end and I went back to bed.

The next morning, Tom made himself a breakfast sandwich and fed Jamie some scraps.
My two sisters, Wendy and Carrie, had to put to sleep several dogs. They both recommended that Tom and I go to McDonald's and buy some cheeseburgers for Jamie. We did that on our way to Canyon Pet Hospital. Jamie sure did love those burgers!

When Jamie consumed all of the cheeseburgers, Tom and I  gave him some soft milk bones.

The nurses came into our comfort room to put a port into Jamie's leg. They administered one sedative to relax Jamie and then they gave him a second serum to make him very drowsy.

Eventually, the Veterinarian doctor came into the Comfort Room to give Jamie the final dose. Sleep tight, dear Jamie. Tom and I cried deeply. We will really. really miss our Jamie.
After we left Canyon Pet Hospital, Tom and I ran a couple of errands. We stopped at Dr. Mahanti's office and the optometry clinic there. I was able to order new lenses for my progressive glasses at a reasonable cost. We then had lunch at Oreganos.

Sunday afternoon, I did not feel like going to church. I was in a funk over Jamie. Tom and I took Kelsey to Cataract Lake. We took turns walking her. Kelsey seems to be looking for her brother Jamie. She finally settled on the dog bed in front of the television.

The next morning, Williams had a beautiful sunrise. Several folks on Facebook shared photos.

Monday, Tom decided to tackle the rain gutters. Troy was going to start his weekly gardening service and we wanted to be ready.

Tuesday, I drove to Flagstaff and had a hair appointment with Shawna Ritter at Wildflower Salon. On my way home, I got off Interstate 40 and took a picture of Mt. Humphreys.

Troy came to tidy up our front and back yards on Wednesday. He was by himself and hauled away lots of pine needles and gobs of pine cones.

Friday, Tom and I drove to Flagstaff. Our first stop was Sam's Club. While there, I received a phone call that Jamie's ashes were ready to be picked up at Canyon Pet Hospital. Fortunately, we were very close to this location.

Tom had a 1:10 p.m. appointment at Barnet, Delaney, and Perkins Eye Center with Dr. David Felsted. Recently, Tom has not been happy with his current ophthalmologist,  Dr. Mahanti. Dr. Felsted specializes in glaucoma. He also is a dry eye specialist. Tom has both.

Early Saturday morning, we experienced the pink full moon. The moon is not pink in color. The reference is to a pink flower that blooms this time of year. I had my first dermaplaning facial with Kacia Maddox at Lush Salon in Williams. Kacia has over 20 years of experience. It is nice to not have to drive to Flagstaff. She did an excellent job!

Sunday, I went to the Bethany Fellowship, a Calvary Chapel, church service. The pastor, Dave Remender, is very good.

Monday, a photographer from Prescott posted a beautiful photo of the pink full moon and the granite dells.

Tuesday, I drove to Kaibab Lake. It was a gorgeous day. I walked the 2+ miles around the lake's perimeter.

Later that afternoon, I put up a hummingbird feeder in the backyard. Many of my neighbors commented that the hummingbirds are out and about.

Wednesday, I went to lunch with the Highland Meadows "Lovely Ladies" group. The venue was the Grand Canyon Brewery.

Thursday, I had a massage appointment with Julie Donbrosky at Rehab & Relax Massage Therapy in Williams. She was referred to me by facial technician Kacia Maddox and my friend Karen Whisnant. Julie certainly did not disappoint!

That evening, Tom and I went to a complementary SWING dance session at the Sultana Theater. Teresa Moshir --- a Williams resident and former professional dancer --- has a goal of increasing the art of dance in our little community. Before the dance session, Tom and I had dinner at Cruiser's Cafe 66. We learned that Cruiser's is part of the Grand Canyon Brewing Company. Both of us were not aware of this association.

The one hour session was fun and informative. Teresa took to the stage to show us the steps

Tom and I polished up on our swing dance technique.
