Wednesday, November 20 through Tuesday, December 3, 2024: Casa Grande Arrival, the Beginning of Winter Activities, and Thanksgiving

Over the past few days, Tom and I packed up my truck and his Subaru. At around 10:00 a.m., we put the dogs in the truck. Tom lead the procession down to Casa Grande. I followed behind him. We stopped at the Sunset Point Rest Area for lunch.

We arrived in Casa Grande at about 3:00 p.m. We spent several hours unloading the vehicles and taking the dogs for some neighborhood walks in our home for the next four months, Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort. That evening, Tom and I went to the Texas Roadhouse. I had appetizer ribs with steak fries and Tom had appetizer chicken nuggets and an order of steak fries. My legend margarita was excellent!
Thursday, we completed the process of "moving into" the trailer. Tom's son, Jon, came by to check on us. He has been at Palm Creek since early October.

In the afternoon, the Palm Creek Pickleball Club had a "Welcome Back" party at the North Pavilion. It was BIG crowd!!!

They had a nice appetizer buffet of chips, crackers, popcorn, sliced cheeses, cookies, and crock pots of hot cheese dips and meat balls. They also had free beer, margaritas, and soft drinks. The added bonus was a live three piece band. Tom and I danced several slow dances before leaving the event.
We decided to go to the Palm Creek Bistro for a takeaway cauliflower pizza. This restaurant used to be self-service only. But, this season, they added table service.

The outdoor patio is very nice. There is now a stage for live music.

Friday, I took my electric bike off of the back end of my truck.

I also got the solar lights out of the trailer belly. And, I laid down the extension cord to the palm tree with lights. The lighted palm three is on a dusk to dawn timer.

At 1:00 p.m., I had a nail appointment at the NailIt Salon and Spa.

Dustin was my nail technician. He is also co-owner of the salon with his wife Sandy. I upgraded to a dip French manicure. It is gorgeous!

Two nights in a row, Tom and I have played Rummikub on our kitchen table.

Jamie has been slipping and sliding on our living room floor. To help him, Tom and I cut up an old outdoor carpet and placed it on the floor.

I took several walks around the park. I never tire of the beautiful water fountains along the golf course.

That evening, there was a dance band playing in the Three Palms Ballroom. It was a group called Creekside. The price was right --- FREE!!! The group played nice dancing music, but they were off key in spots. Someone mentioned that they are local and some members are residents of Palm Creek Resort.

Sunday displayed a beautiful sunrise.

Later in the morning, I went to the gym and rode a recumbent bike.
In the afternoon, Tom and I walked Kelsey in our neighborhood.
At the end of the street, there was an Open House sign for a park model home. We secured Kelsey in the driveway and went inside. The home had a sign "For Sale by Owners." However, Linda Stepler --- who was conducting the Open House --- is a realtor and she is friends with the Canadian owners. Linda is just helping the owners out.
Tom and I were dazzled by this property. The park model was opened up to an 18'x18' living room. There is the usual one bedroom, but there is an additional 1/2 bathroom. There is a large patio and a finished shed. The shed has a fold-out bed and it has an air conditioning unit. The floor plan is very open. The asking price is $112,000. We'll see...

Our RV site #924 is well situated. So far, there are no severe problems with the trailer.

The decorated palm tree is up. The hot air balloon no longer lights up, but I am okay with that.
The nearby fountains never disappoint in their beauty.
Monday evening, Tom and I played Mexican Train dominoes.
Tuesday, Jon came over for a visit. He started an evening pickleball group. I joined his group to attend the Wednesday night drills and games.
Wednesday afternoon, I took Kelsey for a long walk outside Palm Creek Resort. Along Cottonwood Lane, there were fields of cotton! Since we arrived in Casa Grande early, it was the first time I saw the cotton before it was harvested.
That evening, I attended the Pickleball Skills Game Night. The event started at 6:30 p.m. There were 32 participants on eight courts. The evening was fun, but it took a lot of concentration.

The next day was Thanksgiving. I went to Cracker Barrel to pick up a pre-ordered Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings. Tom loves his pecan pie!

For Thanksgiving, Carrie and Brent were in Georgia.

They had a large Thanksgiving gathering with Cody's family in a nearby Alabama town.

Tom and I rode our bikes around the park It was a beautiful day.

Sister Wendy and brother Peter had their Thanksgiving gathering at Wendy and Kai's home in Sierra Madre.

On Friday, I had my first massage of the season with Cathy Kelly. I decided to make it a 90 minute treat.

That evening, Tom and played Tri-ominos.

Since Tom and I were very interested in the park model  home for sale, we decided it would be prudent to see some other places in the park that were for sale. We made a Saturday morning appointment with Rich Lind in the Palm Creek Sales Office. Rich lined up seven properties that were for sale--- all under $120,000.

Later in the afternoon, Tom and I went to an Open House that Linda Stepler was hosting at our favorite property. This home on site #728 is superior to all of the homes we saw with Rich.

Our next door neighbor, Troy, hired a firm to trim the huge Oleander  hedge between our property and his. The hedge was severely overgrown and its limbs came four feet into our property line.

The company did a fine job trimming the hedge.

Saturday evening, Tom and I played Tri-ominos again.

Back in Williams, our town had its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Parade down Route 66.

With the hedge trimmed, Tom found a nice spot to read his Kindle. The height of the hedge produced some good afternoon shade.

Kelsey and Jamie enjoyed a good afternoon nap.

Tuesday morning, Tom went next door at 9:00 a.m. for Ron McCartney's coffee and donuts clutch with other men from the park.

I took Kelsey and Jamie to the nearby fountain and pond.
