Sunday, I
went to Bethany Fellowship Church. There was a guest speaker --- a Christian
Pastor --- who is also a Rabbi. Very
interesting!
That
afternoon, I drove over to Kaibab Lake.
The Coconino
County lakes now require a daily or annual pass. For the convenience, I bought
an annual pass. This year, the price is $50 for local residents. Next year,
the annual pass goes up to the full price of $100.
On Monday, I
wanted to find a cache that is located on one of the Three Sisters Mountains. I
drove to the suggested spot, parked, and I walked about .3 miles. The terrain
was challenging and I was not sure that it was smart to hike alone. So, I
turned around. Some of the folks who proceeded me commented on the beautiful
views at the top.
Tuesday,
June 3, we had our first Williams Competitive Pickleball game. It was just the
four of us --- me, Suzanne, Robbie, and Jeana.
Friends, Di
and Greg Jonsen, dropped by to say hello. Unfortunately, Di has a plantar
fasciitis injury. Greg had neck surgery in September last year, but he is ready
to get back into pickleball play.
On
Wednesday, Tom had an appointment is Flagstaff at Northern Arizona Healthcare.
Tom's primary care doctor is leaving the group, so Dr. Derek Browne is
his new primary care physician. Both Tom and I were very impressed with Dr
Browne's knowledge and thoroughness. He spent close to one-half hour with Tom.
Nice!
Thursday
morning, I decided to trim back the table grape vines. Many of the vines were
brown. Tom came out to help me as well. The vines now look neat and tidy.
Later in the
day, I went to town and parked in the lot by the National Forest Service
headquarters. I walked to Buckskinner Lake.
I then took the path to Santa Fe
Reservoir.
I checked on the cache that I have at the Santa Fe Dam. All is good.
Friday, was
the beginning of the 10th Anniversary Car Show. I walked along Route 66 in the
early morning.
Tom and I
went back at noon. We parked one vehicle on one end of Route 66 and another vehicle on the
other end. That way, we only had to walk the one way. I love the cars and the photo
opportunity.
Before heading back to our house, there was a stop at the new donut shop in town. Tom enjoyed an apple fritter. It was almost three dollars more expensive than Safeway. 😕😕😕
That
evening, the American Legion was sponsoring a dance. Tom and I dropped by a little after 7:00 pm, but
there was no DJ activity. So, we opted to go to Rulu's 66 Bar & Grill and listen to our friend
Kerry-Lynn Moede sing.
The next
morning, I had a facial with Kacia Maddox at Lush. She does such an excellent job!
First
Baptist Church was having a free vegetable plant giveaway at the parsonage. I
stopped by to chat with Di and Greg.
I also saw my neighbors, Jan and Joe
Chumley.
Later, there were four
of us that met for some pickleball. We added a new player to the group --- Craig
Pulsifer. Craig lives in Highland Meadows North. The players were me, Craig,
Jordana, and Greg. Greg hadn't played since May last year. He played cautiously
--- being mindful of his neck that had surgery in September, 2024.
Sunday, I
convinced Tom to come with me to try to find the cache on the Three Sisters
Mountains. We got closer --- less than .1 of a mile away. But, the terrain and
the steepness of the climb made it too difficult for us. So, we turned around.
I got a partial photo of Holden Lake below. Never mind finding the "Three
Sisters #1" cache.
Tuesday, I
had a mammogram appointment at Simon Imaging in Flagstaff. The technician,
Becky, is excellent. Unfortunately, she is retiring in a few months.
Thursday
evening, Tom and I went to the Dance at the Sultana. We took lessons from
Teresa from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. There was another dance instructor, Cowboy, from
San Antonio, Texas. It was fun seeing Teresa and Cowboy dance the Texas Strut.
Friday
night, Tom and I went to Frontier Fun Restaurant. Marko was playing music.
Teresa was teaching some folks at the restaurant to Swing dance. She was hired
by the restaurant for two hours. The second hour was line dancing.
I finally decided that it was time
to change the water in my hot tub. I drained the water first thing in the
morning. Tom was helpful in siphoning the last bit of water out of the bottom.
Saturday, June
14, was Flag Day, the 250th Birthday of the US Army, and President Trump's 79th
birthday. Washington, DC, had a parade celebrating the US Army. It was an
impressive display of Army squads and regiments and a variety of military vehicles
and drones.
President Trump was there as the Commander In Chief.
That
evening, there was a beautiful sunset over Bill Williams Mountain.
My brother
Peter and his wife Terry are in London for a wedding of a friend. Peter texted
me a photo of the two of them.
